2021 RURAL AMBASSADOR STATE FINALS POSTPONED

Following the further government updates broadcasted earlier today, the Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards State Final Program, hosted by Queensland Ag Shows, has regrettably been postponed. The State Final Program of the 2021 Rural Ambassador Awards was due to commence at 2pm on Wednesday August 4th. The decision to postpone was not one that was made lightly but Queensland Ag Show’s first priority is the safety of our competitors and volunteers.

The Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards Committee with the support of Queensland Ag Shows, intends to run a State Final Program at a later date this year, to ensure that the 2021 State Finalists receive a fantastic State Finals experience.

We thank our Finalists, Sponsors, Suppliers and Show Community for your support.

The Queensland Rural Ambassador Award state finalists hosted by our accommodation partners Annexe Apartments, will be welcomed to Brisbane on Wednesday, 4 August 2021 between 2pm to 4pm. The finalists will experience industry tours, personal development workshops and an immersive Ekka experience.

The Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards Winner will be announced on Saturday, 7 August 2021 at the Celebration Dinner at Royal on the Park.

The Rural Ambassador Awards is open to males and females, twenty to thirty years of age who have a strong commitment to the rural industries and an involvement and passion for the Agricultural Show movement.

The aim of the Rural Ambassador Awards is to highlight the importance of young people in rural and regional Queensland, in particular those associated with the Agricultural Show movement. The award identifies those people actively involved in their local Show, who have a sound knowledge of current rural issues affecting their local areas, Queensland and Australia and have a strong affiliation with agriculture.

The award seeks young people who symbolise the rural spirit – people with vitality who are forward thinking and with a passion for the land and local agricultural shows.

The competition is run on four levels. The local Show winner progresses to a Sub-Chamber final where the winner competes in the State Final held during the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA). The winner of the State Final then competes at the National Final held at a State Royal Show. This is a national competition, but with New Zealand joining us in 2008 it has expanded to international status.

I feel privileged to be named the 2019 Queensland Rural Ambassador. Representing the Gympie Show Society and the Near North Coast Sub-Chamber.
