About Next Generation
“TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES, INCREASE MOTIVATION AND ENABLE NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH INVOLVED WITHIN THE QUEENSLAND SHOW MOVEMENT, AS WELL AS PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE BROADER QUEENSLAND SHOW ORGANISATION.”
QCAS Next Generation is a Sub Committee of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies. Since its inception in 2008, the committee of passionate like-minded young people has continued to grow from strength to strength.
The committee consists of 16 Executives Members who represent 10 of our 11 Sub Chambers. The committee has achieved a number of goals in recent years. These achievements include the running of regional workshops, the Zimbabwean Exchange in 2014 as well as the running of a biennial conference since 2010, with the most recent Queensland Ag Shows Conference hosted in January of 2018. Next Generation has now expanded into the North Queensland Sub Chamber where a networking opportunity was provided by the Malanda Show Society at the Malanda Cattle Camp and have initiated the Queensland Shows Awards to acknowledge and encourage the excellent achievements of groups, individuals and events in the Queensland Show movement. In 2019 Next Generation are pleased to host their inaugural Queensland Ag Shows Gala Dinner, where their Queensland Shows Awards will be announced.
Next Generation believes strongly in the development of networks and resources for young people to feel connected. To ensure our continued achievements and networking resources are sustained, the Next Generation committee aims to continue the expansion of our membership base through the development of the regional workshops, social events and the biennial Queensland Shows Conference.
We see these opportunities as a framework for education and personal development while promoting the Queensland Show movement. If your show society is interested in hosting a QCAS Next Generation workshop, meeting or social event please contact us on the details below.
Previously Next Generation had an annual membership process and fee; however as Next Generation has developed so have our processes. Now any member of a local show between the ages of 15 and 40 years of age are automatically a QCAS Next Generation Member. Your show society will be asked questions on your annual return and the show society will be required to send us this information. If you still do not receive any information about the events we are running or our bulletins please contact us directly to add you to our database.
